Sechenov among Best Global Universities by U.S. News & World Report
For the first time, Sechenov University has been listed by this influential media company in its world ranking of schools.
Sechenov University — for the first time in its history — has been included in the Best Global Universities ranking published by the U.S. News & World Report. The latest rating was issued a few weeks ago.
Sechenov has been ranked #1321 among the Best Global Universities, #507 in Europe, #17 in Russia, and #570 for Clinical Medicine. The rating system is based on the assessment of the global research reputation (12.5%), regional research reputation (12.5%), publications (10%), books (2.5%), conferences (2.5%), normalised citation impact (10%), total citations (7.5%), number of publications among the 10% most cited (12.5%), percentage of total publications among the 10% most cited (10%), international collaboration relative to country (5%), international collaboration (5%), number of highly cited papers among the top 1% most cited in their respective field (5%), and percentage of total publications among the top 1% most highly cited papers (5%).
This year’s ranking includes 19 universities from Russia, and 15 of them (including Sechenov) are participants of the Russian Academic Excellence Project ‘5–100’, a programme of the Russian government that aims to improve the standing and research reputation of the country’s major universities.
The Best Global Universities ranking by the U.S. News & World Report features academic institutions from 86 countries. The rating system is based on the schools’ academic research and reputation by region, country, and subject. The performance indicators are specifically chosen to facilitate international comparisons of higher education organisations.
