Sechenov improves positions in THE subject ranking
Sechenov University — for the first time in its history — has been rated in the Engineering and Technology category.
Sechenov University is improving its positions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. For the first time, it has been ranked in the Engineering and Technology subject area (position 801–1000 in the world).
The University has been implementing new education programmes, such as Information Systems and Technologies, Nanomaterials, and Tissue Engineering. These training programmes have proved successful, resulting in the University’s appearance in the ranking.
At the same time, Sechenov remains a strong research and education centre for medicine and life sciences. Its Biomedical Science and Technology Park are working to introduce interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research into medical practice, transforming healthcare. In the World University Rankings 2021 by subject, Sechenov University is on position 601+ in the category ‘Clinical and Health’, and 601–800 in Life Sciences.
Sechenov has also been ranked 101–200 by its impact in the category Good Health and Well-Being, and 401–500 in the Emerging Economies University Ranking.
The THE World University Rankings rate universities in 11 subject areas, using 13 performance indicators. It is one of the most influential rankings in the world.
This year, there are 48 universities from Russia on the list, compared to 39 entries last year. Of the universities ranked by THE, 20 are the participants of the 5–100 Russian Academic Excellence Project, a programme of the Russian government that aims to improve the standing and research reputation of the country’s major universities. Sechenov University is the only medical school — part of the 5–100 Project.
